And, the Last Word

Robert Marcom

Human
"Hey Lord, if you're all-powerful and all-good, why do you permit the existence of evil and rage and hate?"

G
"We created Good. We created Mercy and Love and Justice."

Human
"And yet, you allow rapacious victimization. You allow the guilty to go unpunished."

G
"There will be Ultimate Justice. All accounts will be settled."

Human
"Assuming you mean in the afterlife, doesn't that break your own law? How does punishment in an afterlife restore the victim?"

G
"We will Restore the Victim."

Human
"So, by this fact, do you admit that evil is ultimately you fault--so you must restore?"

G
"Ahem. Well. You see, evil was an unfortunate consequence. It was completely unintended. It came with the package when We created Good."

Human
"So, you manifested Good and Evil as a dichotomy. If you are all-good, how then are you not all-evil?"

G
"We created Mankind in Our image."

Human
"Yes, I've read that. What does it mean?"

G
"Every photograph needs a negative."

Human
"So we are the negative image. You needed us to express Evil, in order for you to express Good?"

G
"Well, not originally. It just worked out that way."

Human
"Doesn't that make you less than perfect?"

G
"It always has. Do We not repent?"

Human
It seems to me that all-power without perfection. . ."

G
"Is a dangerous thing. Yes, I know. It is up to you Humans to perfect Us."

Human
"By 'us' do you mean you--the royal We--or do you include Humankind?"

G
"We have said, what We have said."

Human
"I just hate it, when you do that."

G
"So, deal with it."

Human
"Amen."
